Barrier-free parking

No barrier, no problem! Bergen Parkering introduced automatic number-plate recognition in 2015. Now, we have also removed the barriers in ByGarasjen and KlosterGarasjen.

What does it mean for me?

If you have a Sesam Sesam account, you don’t have to do anything. The only difference is that there is no barrier when entering and exiting the parking facility. The same applies if you have fixed-price parking.

If you have a disabled parking permit, free short-term parking will still be available to you, but you will still have to show your permit at our customer service center on floor 1. The only difference is that you will no longer have to get and validate a ticket. When showing your permit in our customer service center, you parking will be valid and registered to your car’s number plate for that visit.

What? I don’t need a ticket anymore?

From now on, your stay in ByGarasjen and KlosterGarasjen is registered automatically through automatic number-plate recognition. A camera takes a picture of your number plate when you arrive and when you leave. The fee for your visit is then calculated and payed for automatically if you have the app. If you do not have the app, you can pay at a payment kiosk, online or through invoice.

Before exiting the parking facility

App – if you do not already have Sesam Sesam or EasyPark, you can download one of the apps and make an account and payment happens automatically. You can register for an account even if you’ve already started your parking session.

Payment kiosks – at the end of your parking session, on the way back to your car, you can use one of the available payment kiosks by entering your number plate and paying by card.

If you have left the parking facility

Pay online – you can pay online at sesam-sesam.com within 48 hours of exiting the parking facility. Simply enter your number plate and pay by card.

Invoice – if you do not pay by app, online or using a payment kiosk, an invoice will be sent to the owner of the vehicle. Note that an invoicing fee of NOK 39,- will be applied.

Removing the parking barriers provides you a more seamless parking experience, shortening queues when traffic volume is high and simplifying payment and entering/exiting the parking facilities.
